If you're researching the drug issue in Ireland for yourself or on behalf of a group, here are two Irish websites that the GBRD would strongly recommend:
The National Advisory Committee on Drugs (NACD) was set up to advise the Irish Government on drug use in Ireland. The NACD carries out, commissions and analyses research on the drug issue, to help inform Government policy in the area.
The NACD reports directly to the Minister of State with special responsibility for the drug issue and researches areas such as the consequences of drug use on individuals, families and communities; emerging trends; the number of people who use drugs and in what areas; prevention and treatment/rehabilitation of drug users.
The National Documentation Centre on Drug Use (NDC) is an information resource, providing visitors with access to electronic and hard copy research on all aspects of the drug use, from all over the world.
The NDC was set up by the Drugs Misuse Division of the Health Research Board in 2002.
