The Greater Blanchardstown Response to Drugs (GBRD) was set up by local volunteers in 1992 with the aim of bringing communities and agencies together to address the drugs issue in Dublin 15.
Today, the staff and management of the GBRD still bring communities and agencies together in Dublin 15, to address the ever-changing nature of the drugs issue here.
From our office in Clonsilla Village in Dublin 15, our main areas of work involve:

Our Mission
At the GBRD, we work to the principles of community development and we aim to promote positive responses to drug and alcohol related issues in the Greater Blanchardstown area by:
Supporting and empowering individuals, families and communities to address issues arising from problem drug and alcohol use.
Working in partnership with other community, voluntary and statutory agencies to ensure that the necessary facilities, services and resources are available to meet the needs of all those affected by drug and alcohol problems.
Seeking to uphold the rights and dignity of all people.
The GBRD continues to be a non-political, non-sectarian organisation with a commitment to social justice and equality.

Funding
The GBRD is an action of the Blanchardstown Local Drugs Task Force and is funded through the Health Services Executive (Northern Area) under the National Drugs Strategy Team.
Our Aims
The 6 aims below guide our work at the GBRD. These are:
To develop, support and participate in local, regional and national networks of groups and agencies working on drug and alcohol related issues.
To increase the capacity of local communities within Greater Blanchardstown to understand and respond to drug and alcohol related issues through a process of community development.
To campaign locally for facilities and services to meet the needs of individuals, families and communities affected by drug and alcohol related issues and to support and participate in such campaigns at regional and national levels.
To provide a professional, confidential and accessible information service and to raise awareness within the community of drug and alcohol related issues.
To promote and support the development of family support groups for families affected by drugs and alcohol use and to identify and promote best practice in family support work.
To promote, support and carry out local research in order to better meet the needs of individuals, families and communities affected by drug and alcohol use.
